Wife in a coma. Wife about to die. Negligent husband and father comes back into the picture. Two kids - a rebellious teenager and a 10 year old going through a phase. Teen informs father that wife was cheating on him.
While you might expect that the above might make for some wishy-washy drama, the end result is surprisingly good. Clooney plays the father and a Shailene Woodley is solid as the teenager in a quirky drama. There are shades of O Brother, where art thou? throughout particularly with the music. But what really sets the movie apart is the setting - in Hawaii - which also serves as a plot point.
Definitely worth a watch!
