Animation

Rather substandard animation, but nevertheless entertaining. Supergirl was more interesting than Superman and Brainiac was a rather dull cardboard cut-out.

Watch once if you are a fan of the character.

A fun movie with a pretty unique setting for a decent plot. Some bits are a li'l cheesy and I generally tend to find John C. Reilly annoying, but his voice work in Wreck it Ralph was good.

Bonus point for a lot of out-of-the-box thought.

Ronal the Barbarian is a hilarious Danish animated parody. It's funny, shocking and entertaining all at the same time. The plot is, however, rather trying. I watched the English dub.

Watch if you like swords, wenches and enjoy political correctness being thrown out of the window.

I watched Shrek 3 yesterday and I am still in mourning over it. What was an entertaining part 1 has been sodomised into mindless drivel that is neither well written nor well animated or well voiced for that matter. I sincerely hope that there isn't going to be a part 4.

Hollywood should be banned from making sequels based on the commercial performance of a movie.

... and the winner by a country mile, Pixar's WALL-E. The CG was great as per usual, but the storyline and characterisation took the cake. Nobody wants to miss this one as it's definitely one of Pixar's best.

I watched Pixar's Up last week and I must say that it was a big disappointment considering all the hype surrounding it. Even though it was released in May, it is currently ranked #39 in IMDb's Top 250 list which I find rather flabbergasting.

Kirikou is a French animated film with a difference. It is set in pre-colonial tribal Africa, all its characters are black and in keeping with the traditional garb of the region, the women are mostly topless and the kids are mostly nekkid. While these are the attributes that immediately hit viewers who have been brought up on a diet of politically-correct-think-of-the-children works, they quickly shift into the background.
