Progressive

Today's Song of the Day, and the same for the last few weeks in my car has been Rush's The Trees, off their 1978 album, Hemispheres. While the song is interesting musically, what truly captivates are the lyrics which are pasted below:

There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas

Today's Song Of The Day is Ayreon's Valley of the Queens, a breathtakingly beautiful vocal-centric piece. A quiet song, its beauty lies in the harmonies provided by the wonderful Anneke van Giersbergen coupled with the poignant lyrics which paint a moving picture (I'm a sucker for all things fantasy after all). I'm seriously hooked onto Ayreon at the moment.

The lyrics follow:

My journey's over,
I'm standing on the edge,
And close my eyes
To this world of lies.

Today's song of the day is an instrumental titled Bravest Face by Rush off their new album Snakes & Arrows. This is one of the first songs I enjoyed off the album (which has been steadily growing on me btw) - very catchy, especially the verse. I am by far not a fan of Geddy Lee. However, his vocals (with its sharp yet harmonious, albeit nasal twang) are perfect for certain songs, and this is one of them.
